Here we are, ready for Day 10 of the “12 Days of Christmas” series. I’m having fun, are you?
Today’s “Ugly Sweater” contestant is our sweet little bear, who is wearing a Christmas sweater with a reindeer:
I decided to make a pillow cover with my Ugly Sweater Bear block. I framed the 7″ square applique block with my pretty red blender and squares of my applique background fabric. Then I chose 12 of my charm squares, cut them in half, and then sewed them back together to make a pieced border. The corners of the outer border are made with the applique background fabric, each with a trio of appliqued holly leaves and a red heart button. Sew adorable! Here’s the finished pillow:

I love going to our Christmas Eve service at church and fellowship time that follows. Some years we hosted an open house after the service. What a joy to open our home to others at Christmas.

My family has gathered at my grandparents’ house and then gone to Christmas Eve candlelight services together for as long as I remember. It hasn’t been the same in recent years but it is still essential.

Our Christmas tradition besides Christmas Eve service, is having everyone for lunch at our house and then opening presents, or opening presents first – then lunch!

Our favorite tradition is having our grandson & close family relatives home for dinner, no matter what day they can make it. My husband works at our local ski hill so it becomes a matter of juggling dates with several families. Present opening waits for everyone together, sometimes before, sometimes after the 25th.
