June RSC 2023

Hi Quilting Friends,

The #RSC2023 color for June is Blue. I pulled out my BLUE scrappy fabric basket to find some pieces for this month’s color blocks.

Rolling Stone

Here’s my pretty BLUE Rolling Stone block, and I chose this dark blue fabric because I love those glow-in-the-dark stars –

Carolina Chain

I made ten more BLUE Carolina Chain blocks, five light and five dark, this month. If my calculations are correct, I need a total of 23 additional blocks to have enough for my project. Easy peasy!

I also put together 11 of the larger blocks this month, since I always have more time for stitching when school is out for summer –

I’m looking forward to playing with these blocks on my design wall.

In other news, we are growing a litter of five kittens under the cast iron plants in our flower bed! Mama cat decided that this is the place to raise her family, but she’s not allowing anyone near the kittens quite yet. We have to peek at them through our bathroom window. (There’s another gray baby beneath the pile, LOL.)

Kittens!

Mama has started to allow me to pet her when I bring food, although she does still growl at me on occasion. Her water source is the bird bath, which explains why the birds were going nuts on Saturday morning. . .

Mama Cat

I would give her a name, but she won’t be staying. I am allergic to kitties so everyone will need new homes, including those adorable kittens.

Happy quilting,

Sharon

  1. Carolina Chain looks a nice lock, I’ve never made these myself. Mama cat and her kittens look lovely. Will you have to get a local animal care centre to come and collect them? Hopefully they will get loving homes soon.

    1. Thanks Jenny! The Carolina Chains are very easy to make, and I like how they’ll look when I sew them all together. I am enjoying the kittens, and will contact someone who works with a rescue group to see that they are placed in good homes. I wish that I weren’t allergic to cats.

Happy quilting, Sharon Ms P Designs USA

  2. Those kittens are adorable, Sharon! I’m allergic to them also, so totally understand. They look very well nourished. Mama is doing a good job! Your Carolina Chain blocks are so pretty as is that gorgeous Rolling Stone block!
