Welcome to the “Star Party” home page! Join us as we sew along, and you’ll be seeing stars (in the very best way)! The sew along will begin on January 16, 2023, so please stay tuned.

Sharon created this stellar quilt from a collection of bright blenders and a white-on-white print background. Choose fabrics in your favorite colors, or make it scrappy if you prefer.
The “Star Party” blocks can be used along with our 2022 “Sunshine Sampler” blocks or our 2021 “Stash-Bustin’ Scrappy Sampler” blocks, if you wish to combine your favorites to make your own fabulous quilt.
FAQ’s
How often will you post a new block pattern?
New block patterns will be posted every two weeks, on Monday morning! The first block release date is January 16, 2023.
What is the price for each block pattern?
The individual block patterns will be offered at the introductory price of $3.50 USD for just seven days after the block is released, and then they’ll be available for their regular price of $4.50 USD. The block patterns will be offered as an instant download PDF pattern via our PayHip shop.
What is included in the block patterns?
Each block pattern includes a full-color photo of the finished block, fabric requirements, a cutting chart, and step-by-step piecing instructions with pictures of the “tricky” parts. The patterns detail the modern precision piecing methods that Sharon used to stitch each beautiful star block.
How long does it usually take to stitch a sampler block?
This will depend upon your experience level and the intricacy of the specific block that you’re making. We are experienced quilters, so on average it took us between 2 and 3 hours to sew a block, starting with fabric selection through pressing the finished block. A beginning quilter will require a little more time, of course.
How much fabric will I need for the “Star Party” quilt?
If you want to use the same background fabric for all 18 blocks, then you’ll need to have about 2.5 yards of 40″ wide fabric. Pieces for the blocks are no larger than an 18″ x 22″ fat quarter, but most can be made from smaller scraps. Sharon purchased a bundle of twelve fat quarters, and that was plenty of fabric to make all of the stars with enough fabric left over to create the pretty border treatment that you see in the quilt image.
What size is the finished quilt top?
“Star Party” is sized to make a throw, finishing at 48″ x 48″ (without borders). You may adjust the size by omitting blocks, repeating blocks, using additional blocks, or adding borders to enlarge the quilt top.
