Hi Quilting Friends,
The color of the month for May is PINK! It isn’t a quilt, but I have a beautiful PINK hydrangea in my garden. I’ve wanted a hydrangea for several years, so this is my Mothers’ Day gift to myself.
And I happen to have a small bin filled with PINK scraps.
Here’s what I’ve made so far with my PINK scraps!
Rolling Stone Block
The hot pink makes me smile!
Place Mat
The place mat started out as an orphan Sawtooth Star block from RSC 2021. I added strips of matching scrap fabric to one side to make it a nice size for the place mat. I’m not sure what I was thinking, using that really dark gray print with pastel pink, but I have grown to like it.
The strips on the side of the place mat were calling out for some feather quilting, so I obliged. (Practice, practice, practice! Each time I try a feather, it looks a little bit better than the previous effort.)
I used a scrap of hot pink fabric for the binding, with a light gray print on the back, and all done!

That Rolling Stone block is awesome in hot pink! Love your hydrangea. I have a whole lot of white hydragea along the east side of my house, and as long as we mostly leave them alone they bloom like crazy. I’ve tried to get a blue/lavender one going for several years by my front steps. But they never do well.

Thank you! I see several homes in our area with gorgeous hydrangeas, so I’m taking a chance that mine will survive. I also love the white ones, so perhaps I will find a spot for them as well. Happy Mother’s Day!
