Hi Quilting Friends,
The color of the month for September is DARK NEUTRALS, so I’m using up some of my BLACK and BROWN scraps to make another project.

I made a “Rolling Stone” block and a zipper bag last week. You can read about them HERE.
Place Mat(s)
I excavated my orphan block bin found leftover fabric from a pillow that I made for my son several years ago, which I’ll use to create place mats. I added solid black and brown fabrics along with a black and tan stripe from my stash to complete the place mat set. I decided that each place mat has a different quilted design in the solid brown rectangles, and I had lots of fun as I practiced my free-motion quilting skills. I still need to add the binding.
I just realized that this project will work well for the “Something Wicked” challenge in October, so I’ll wait until then to show more than this “teaser”. Here’s a sneaky peek of my project-in-progress:

Happy quilting,
Sharon
You’re so good at using up your scraps, Sharon! And that is a great way to practice free motion quilting! How fun! I look forward to seeing them completed!

Thank you! My favorite FMQ pattern so far is the pebbles. It looks intimidating, but was easier to do than I had imagined. Ms P Designs USA

Useful object, used left over fabrics, and it meets an upcoming challenge? That’s pretty much a triple play with the one project.
