Hi Quilting Friends,
Time to check in on my 2024 goals, as the year is wrapping up. A big “thank you!” to Yvonne @ quiltingjetgirl for hosting the planning parties this year!
My Goals for 2024
Goal 1- Play With Toys
I have toys (fabric, patterns, rulers, gadgets, books, etc.) in my studio that I haven’t played with (yet). My goal was to choose a toy, play with it, and post about my project.
Update– Goal completed during Q3. Read about it HERE.
Goal 2- Play With Scraps

My goal was to use scraps to create at least 3 scrappy projects, and then write a post about my creations.
Update- Completed during Q1.
Of course, I have more scraps. (I feel that I will always have more scraps.) Here are the new scrappy projects that I’ve finished since the end of September-
Goal 3- Play With UFOs
Even though my UFO collection is much smaller than it was a few years ago, I still have a stack of several UFO quilt tops that are waiting to be finished. My goal was to choose one of these UFOs and take it across the finish line.
Update– Goal completed during Q4.
Ta-done! “Black and White Delight” has been finished, and I enjoyed working on my free-motion quilting moves. Read more about it HERE.

I hit a snag in my efforts to finish “Lone Star” and had to re-think a few of my ideas, but I finally settled on a quilting plan in early November. I haven’t had time yet to hand-quilt the rest of the quilt, but I’ve made quite a lot of progress this year. (Read HERE for more.) This project will roll over into my 2025 goals.
Goal 4- Play With Online Friends
My goal was to participate in several regularly-scheduled activities, including-
- “Sew It Show It Challenge”
- “One Monthly Goal”
- “Rainbow Scrap Challenge”
- “PHD in 2024” (I’m the host this year!)
- “#2024QuiltingQ4Checkin” (This post is my Q4 update.)
Update- Goal accomplished. You can see links to my most recent posts for each activity on the list above.
Goal 5- Play Outside
My goal was to take at least 30 minutes each day to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. I was hoping to do this 6 out of 7 days (85.7% completion of the daily goal).
Update- Goal accomplished.
According to the spreadsheet that I use as a tracker, I have met my “play outside” goal for 100% of the days for the fourth quarter and 93.7% of the days in 2024, up to this date.
Now that I’ve spent an entire year developing the habit of “playing outside” nearly every day, I feel that I’ll continue doing so without renewing this goal for 2025. I will find another goal to work on instead.
And now to consider my goals for 2025. . . Stay tuned!
How did you do with your 2024 goals? Do tell! We love reading your comments.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Great “check up”, Sharon!! I’m sure your fur babies give you good reason to get outside and play! You’ve had a great year!

Thank you! You’re right; the pups don’t permit me to be a slacker when it comes to the twice-daily walkies. They are relentless. . . Ms P Designs USA
