Hi Quilting Friends,
I can’t believe that the first three months of 2025 are in the books! It has been a busy, productive, and fun year so far. Today I’m sharing my first quarter progress toward goals for 2025. Many thanks to Yvonne @ quilting jetgirl for hosting. Here goes!
My Goals for 2025
Goal 1- Play With Toys
My goal is to choose two toys, play with them, and then post about my projects.
Update- Some progress.

I’ve started creating an Autumn quilt using the hand-dyed fabric bundles of fat eights and fat quarters that I’ve had in my stash for several years.
The applique blocks will look something like this, with varying leaf colors-

The project will also include pieced blocks, but I am still deciding upon fabric placement for them. That’s why I chose to call this “some” progress.
Goal 2- Play With Scraps
My goal is to use scraps to create at least twelve scrappy projects, and then to write blog posts about each of my creations.
Update- Progressing ahead of schedule
I have finished these 5 scrappy projects so far –
I still have LOADS of scraps, and all I can think is that they reproduce at night when everyone else is sleeping. . . I also have LOADS of ideas for scrappy quilts, so stay tuned for more!
Goal 3- Play With UFOs
My goal is to finish “Lone Star” and also to take “Star Party” across the finish line this year.

Update- Significant progress
“Star Party” is finished! I made this quilt top in 2022, but I didn’t get it completed until now because I wanted to quilt it myself with my Bernina QE 770. I’ve learned a lot as I continue to practice my FMQ moves, and I’m delighted with the way it turned out (Visit HERE to see closeup images of the quilting.)

“Lone Star” is progressing very slowly. I need to pick up the pace to achieve a finish this year, but I haven’t been motivated to work on it and I can’t say why. Maybe I’ve just been too focused upon other activities. I will most likely build momentum once I get started quilting it again. (That’s how momentum works, after all.)
Goal 4- Play With Online Friends
My goal is to continue to participate in several regularly-scheduled activities, including-
Update- Proceeding as anticipated. Click the images above to see my latest post for each activity.
In addition to the activities above, I sewed along with Bonnie Hunter’s “Old Town” mystery quilt, and made this scrappy beauty-

I participated in the “Stay At Home Round Robin” with Quilting Gail and friends. I enjoyed using the weekly prompts as a design challenge. Here’s my quilt–

Goal 5 – Play with Others (In Person)
My “new” goal for 2025 is to be deliberately social, aiming for an average of one “social interaction” per week.
Update- Progress is on track.
According to my social calendar, I have participated in 26 social activities in the 13 weeks so far this year.
My activities have been quite varied, and it has been fun. Here’s a list of some of the things I’ve done-
- Monthly historical fiction book club at the library
- “Seniors” bus trips, sponsored by Academy for Lifelong Learning @ LoneStar College
- Lunches out with friends
- Family time, including two birthday parties and hanging out with my favorite people
- Game nights with our neighbors
- Visits to two museums (Museum of Fine Arts Houston & Butler Longhorn Museum)
- Tour of a brewery, with a taste of their beer
- Lectures about watercolor painting and traveling in Scandinavia
I’ve learned new things from my adventures, and staying active keeps me (mostly) out of trouble. 😁
How is your progress on your goals for 2025? Do tell! I love reading your comments.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Your year sounds like it is off to a great start! Wow, the hand dyed fabrics are beautiful, I hope you have fun using them. I think I overachieved a bit in the first quarter, too, so I’m thinking about how to add in a new goal for Q2. It’s a delight to see all you’ve created and I hope you continue to enjoy your year. 🙂
