Hi Quilting Friends,
Welcome back! Are you excited to get started on earning your PHD in 2026? Today I’m ready to share the projects that are on my PHD list this year. If you missed the “Introduction” post, you can read it HERE.
And, with no further ado, here are the projects that made my list for 2026!
Project #1: Stash-Bustin’ Scrappy Sampler

This was our sew-along project for 2020, and my quilt has been waiting patiently to be finished.
I’ve been practicing my FMQ moves, and I’m ready to wrap up the “Stash-Bustin’ Scrappy Sampler”. This will be SEW much fun!
Project #2: “Each Dawn A New Day”

I’ve had this counted cross stitch kit for a minute! The copyright on the package says 1999, so it was probably around 25 years ago when I started stitching, and then I just stopped. I still like this piece, so it’s on my PHD list for 2026.
All of the embroidery floss, hoop, canvas, and even a pair of little scissors are in a bag, ready to just pick up and stitch. I recently added a lighted magnifying glass to my tool kit, because I was having difficulty seeing the holes in the dark blue canvas, so now I’m all set.
This will be a nice hand work project during TV time, since I like to have my hands busy when I’m sitting still. It helps me to stay awake, LOL.
Project #3: Pinwheel Stars Quilt

I made this set of 20 Pinwheel Star blocks for one of my RSC 2025 collections, and I’ve decided that I need 5 more blocks like this for my quilt.
The design is still on the drawing board, and I’m excited to continue with the process.
Project #4: FPP Stars Quilt
I designed and stitched two FPP stars from each of my new FPP star patterns during 2025.
I think that these blocks could be a stellar starting point for a new quilt design. (I’ll use scraps and stash fabric for the piecing, but I may need to purchase more black Kona Cotton for the backgrounds.)
Project #5: Baby Quilt for Caroline & Nick
Nathan’s friends are having a baby, due in June! I’ve known Nick since the boys were in kindergarten, and now he’s all grown up and about to be a Daddy. How exciting!
The nursery theme is “woodlands”, and I’m toying with an idea for this special gift. I’ll probably enlist Gaby to help out with the fabric color scheme, since she has seen all of the nursery Pinterest boards. The baby shower is in early May, so that’s my project deadline.
Projects #6-7: “New” for Ms P Designs, TBD

A pattern designer needs to offer new designs on a regular basis, so that’s what these projects will be. I have several ideas, and I will provide the details when I’m ready to get started.
Materials for these projects will come from primarily my scraps and stash, unless I decide to go raiding in Susan’s studio. (Yes, I’m still helping her out by reducing the amount of fabric on the shelves. I’m such a good sister!)
Project #8: A Quilt for Anna

My sweet co-Madre, Anna, brought this pretty 3-yard bundle home from a business trip, and asked if I would make a quilt for her. Of course I will!
Anna’s birthday is in March, so that’s my finish goal. Speaking of goals, my “One Monthly Goal” for January is to get this quilt top pieced and ready for quilting. Ready? Set. SEW!

Project #9: Project from Stash or Scraps, TBD

I’ve been curating a folder of inspiration photos for another scrappy quilt project, but I haven’t yet decided what I’ll make this year. Stay tuned!
Project #10: Play with “Toys”, TBD

This photo shows some of the “toys” in my collection, and I still haven’t played with all of them. This project will be made using a toy that I haven’t played with, yet. Details to be revealed when I make a decision!
Project #11: Scrappy Zipper Bags X 12

I just received my order of colorful zippers, and I have PLENTY of scraps and orphan blocks for a nice assortment of zipper bags.
Zipper bags are wonderful gifts, and making them will provide me with an opportunity to play with scraps and practice FMQ moves. I may decide to use the RSC color for each month as a guideline for my bag-making, or not!
Project #12: Honey Bee Bag from Kit

This kit was a gift from a friend, and the finished bag will be a gift for my beautiful daughter-in-law.
Gaby has a July birthday, so that’s my finish deadline.
Project #13: Lupine & Laughter Mystery Quilt

This is my second mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter. I started sewing units for clue #1 (with my scraps & stash, of course) in November, so including this project on my PHD list increases the likelihood that I will finish it this year.
Project #14: SAHRR 2026

The “Stay At Home Round Robin” will begin soon, and I’m ready for the challenge!
New Projects
This is where I will post about my new projects, when I have them.
Ongoing Projects

I will continue making these fun FPP coffee mug blocks for RSC 2026, since ten blocks isn’t enough for a quilt.
This will be my new RSC block collection. I started by stitching up a few sample blocks to make sure that I like it, and I do. It seems that there are many possibilities for the layout. They blocks will finish at just 3″ x 3″, so I will need a LOT of blocks for a quilt. We’ll see how it goes!
PHD Progress Update
Now that I’ve decided on my PHD project list, I spent some time evaluating the tasks that need to be done to complete each project.

Every line on the spreadsheet represents one project, and each cell is a task to be done. As I finish each task, I will shade its cell. (My second favorite thing to do!) This provides a visual tracker of my progress (or lack thereof).

This spreadsheet displays a summary of my PHD progress for the year. I will update it at the end of each month.

Party Time!
Please link up your PHD list post, if you haven’t already done so, and then visit the others to support and encourage.
We would appreciate a link back to this post, so here’s a link to copy and paste.
I’ll return at the end of January to report my progress and provide another linky party so you can share your own progress. I hope that you’ll have a wonderful month of stitching toward your PHD in 2026!
Happy quilting,
Sharon

You have some fun projects on your list. I’m looking forward to the 2026 SAHRR. I need to get my center block made! Thank you for hosting the linky parties again this year. This is one of my motivators, though you can’t tell that from what my last year’s report looks like!
