Hi Quilting Friends,
Greetings from Montana! I’m visiting my family for the rest of this week after traveling with my brother to get him home. All is well.
The challenge for this week was presented by Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. It threw me a curve, literally. Read more about this week’s prompt HERE.
Under normal circumstances, I would have stitched up a few Pickle Dish or Wedding Ring arcs or a stack of Drunkards Path squares to answer this prompt. My circumstances aren’t normal at the moment due to my travel and care-giving constraints. Any stitching that I attempt right now is limited to just a few minutes per session.
Round 4 had to be very simple in order to allow me time to complete it. Inspiration arrived in the form of a quilt that I made several years ago for Mr. FixIt. The borders of his quilt feature simple applique arch shaped pieces that look like leaves. Here’s what I decided to create-

I really like the simplicity of the leaf-shaped applique pieces as well as the open spaces, where I intend to add some lovely free motion quilting. I was able to use several of my tiniest hand dyed scraps to make the leaf applique pieces, with the creamy hand dyed fabric for the background. The raw edges will be finished with a machine blanket stitch, done with variegated gold thread.
I’m going to wait until I get home from Montana on February 20 before I start putting my SAHRR elements together. I’m happy with it so far!

You can read more about my progress on the previous posts-
I’m ready to keep going with the next round, and I’ll have time to think about my plan while I’m away from my studio. Have a great week!
Happy quilting,
Sharon
You did well to get those borders done in the midst of all your non-quilting life things going on. I’m glad all is going well with your brother, and hope you enjoy your time with family. The leaf borders will work well, I think!
