Hi Quilting Friends,
The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for March is RED. I’ve already stitched a RED FPP Coffee Mug block and a nice stack of RED Signature blocks, but I’m not finished with RED scraps yet!
Zipper Bag
I found a panel of RED and white fabrics in my orphan block drawer, left over from a project that I don’t even remember making. I decided that it would be a perfect start for my RED scrappy zipper bag.

I cross-cut the panel into sections, and then pieced the sections together to make a grid with alternating colors. The resulting pieces weren’t quite large enough for the zipper bag, so I added pieces of a nice RED and white dot fabric to the sides and top of each piece to make the front and back sides of the zipper bag. I shared my panels in last week’s post, prior to quilting.

I quilted the front and back panels with simple curved lines, and a single line of feathers along the sides.
The lining for the zipper bag is a pretty RED, pink, and white dot print. I used another red and white print to make the zipper stop.

This finish is my fourth scrappy zipper bag for 2026. Want to see the others?
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you’re having a great week. I’m enjoying our beautiful weather and spending time outdoors as much as possible. 😎
Happy quilting,
Sharon

What a great project to use up some odds and ends on. The bag is really fun, red and white are just such a classic color combination.
