Hi Quilting Friends,
I hope that you had a nice, restful Thanksgiving! I enjoyed a whole week off from work, so I was able to relax, spend time with family & friends, catch up on some chores, and have fun with Princess Nina in the quilting studio.
Susan and I went to the Houston International Quilt Festival again this year, and enjoyed seeing the exhibits and vendors. I purchased several pieces of fabric for an upcoming project, and Susan bought a new Bernina 770 QE to replace her current machine. It was nice to have a day to spend together.
We gathered at my nephew’s home for our family Thanksgiving feast, and enjoyed a delicious meal! Here’s a photo of most of our Houston family-

And here’s my November PHD update-
PHD in 2023 Projects
Project #13 – Diamond Star Quilt (Again)

My “One Monthly Goal” for November was to finish quilting the Diamond Star quilt. Ta-done! Here’s the photo finish-

The binding is finished as well. I used a beautiful Northcott Toscana fabric called “Crocus”, which I “liberated” from Susan’s stash. (I’m helping her to reduce the amount of excess fabric in her studio, making space for future acquisitions.)

I still need to add a label and launder the quilt before I tuck this lovely away until May, when it will be a gift for a very special young lady who is graduating from high school.
New Projects
I’ve designed and stitched a cute table topper for December, featuring some pretty fabrics from my stash. No photo yet; you’ll see it on Day 9 of our “Twelve Days of Christmas” series, which begins on December 1.
I’ve made Christmas stockings for Astrid and Freya, using this pretty fabric that I purchased at Quilt Festival.

I’m sure that Santa will bring plenty of toys and treats for our good girls, so Freya gets pink, and Astrid gets purple. No photo yet; come back on December 11 to see my post about this project.
My “One Monthly Goal” for December is to stitch up a couple pairs of flannel pajama pants for Mr. Fix-It. I have purchased and pre-washed the flannel, but I’ll have to be very sneaky to ensure that it is a surprise on Christmas morning. Ready, Set, SEW!
Ongoing Projects
The “Rainbow Scrap Challenge” for November was to make progress on completing blocks and assembling the quilt top. I’m currently working on the “Carolina Chain” quilt. I’ve put together another 11 sets of four units each to make the larger Carolina Chain blocks-

I’ve also made the 22 setting triangle units that will surround the edges of the quilt, which is to be set on point-

The design wall is up, and I’ll start working on block placement soon. Stay tuned!
Rolling Stones
My collection of “Rolling Stones” needs to grow quite a lot before I have enough blocks to make a quilt, so they are on the shelf until January when we begin a new year of RSC.
Progress Update
Here’s my updated task list for November –

I predict that my December task list will be identical, and that’s OK.
And here’s my updated PHD tally for November-

Happy quilting,
Sharon
