Hi Quilting Friends,
I’m still making progress on my projects as I use my AQUA scraps (the color of the month for July), although my quilting schedule was rudely interrupted by Hurricane Beryl. The storm knocked down power lines and left us powerless for almost four days last week.
It was HOT without our central AC, because the temperature outside was in the 90’s, but our little gas generator kept our food chilled and helped with cooling the house via a little window unit AC. We had no major catastrophes at our place from the high winds and heavy rains, for which we are grateful.
Princess Nina refuses to do anything without electricity, so I found other ways to amuse myself for the duration. (Nina is such a prima donna that way!) I completed a “Rolling Stone” block and an “open wide” zippered bag with my AQUA scraps before Beryl blew in (read about them HERE).
Here’s my latest creation in AQUA–

I made two sets of six 4-patch blocks from my 2″ wide scraps, and then alternated them to make this AQUA place mat. I added a rectangle of coordinating stash fabric on one side to make it rectangular. The 4-patch blocks are quilted with a diagonal grid, while the rectangular panel is quilted with a loopy meander.
Happy quilting,
Sharon
You definitely didn’t get a fun start to the month of July. That’s a long time to be without power in that heat and humidity. Hopefully you can be much more productive the rest of the month.

Thanks Kate! No, it wasn’t a bunch of fun to go without power but our little generator made it bearable. I’m getting on with my projects now that we’re online again. Ms P Designs USA

It’s good to know you didn’t get major damage, but going without power that many days is not easy either. Good job on your blocks in spite of that situation.

Thank you! Yes, 4 days without power can contribute to some grumpiness (and that’s just Mr. Fix-It, LOL). I’m hoping that it will be a good long while before we have to deal with that again. 😄 Ms P Designs USA

I agree — absolutely no fun when the power is out for an extended period. Hope everyone in your area have returned to normal.

I agree! I’m seeing fewer news reports about storm damage, so I guess that power has been restored. I still see some rather large trees that are down and waiting removal. It just takes time. . .
