Hi Quilting Friends,
The color of the month for October is “Lights”, which I’m choosing to interpret as “TAN” since the brown & tan scrap bin is overflowing.

Here’s what I’ve been making with my scraps!
Zip Bag
I decided to use some of my 2.5″ squares, along with some strips of the same width, for this month’s bag. I kept the quilting simple; just a cross-hatch on the squares and parallel lines on the top strips. The lining is a floral print from my stash, with a dark brown zipper. Love it!

Place Mat
More 2.5″ scraps were used to make this month’s place mat, this time a combination of rectangles and squares. I quilted a woodgrain design all over the place mat, since I felt that more practice with this design was in order. The binding is solid brown from my stash.

I’ve decided that this placemat is my “Favorite Finish” for October, primarily due to the fun woodgrain quilting.
In other news, Mr. Fix-It and I have been in Galveston all week, where we’re sharing a rented beach house with our neighbors from across the street. It’s always nice to get away for a relaxing holiday, and I love taking both morning and evening walks on the beach. Astrid and Freya came along, and they LOVED playing in the surf!

Happy quilting,
Sharon
Great idea to make the zip bags! That sounds like a wonderful little vacation. I’d enjoy those walks too and listening to the sound of the waves and smelling the water. Enjoy!

Thank you! I love spending time near the water. The sunsets were gorgeous. (I’d guess that the sunrise was also wonderful, but I slept through them.)

Thanks Brenda! I forgot to thank you again for the Kona rollup, which arrived in the mail right before we left on vacation. Ms P Designs USA
