Hi Quilting Friends,
Where did 2024 go? I can’t believe how quickly it has flown but here we are again, ready for a fresh new year. Today I am sharing my plans for the new year. Here goes!
My Goals for 2025
I know. My goals for 2025 are (mostly) the same as they were for 2024. I’ve adjusted the goals a bit, with a brief explanation of why I did so, and I will add one new goal this year.
Goal 1- Play With Toys
I have toys (patterns, rulers, kits, gadgets, pre-cut fabric packs, etc.) in my studio that I haven’t played with (yet). Here are some of those toys-
My goal is to choose two toys, play with them, and post about my projects.
My 2024 goal was to choose just one toy, but I have more time to play now that I’ve retired.
Goal 2- Play With Scraps
I’ve been creating projects with my scrap collection for several years now, and the collection is still extensive.

My goal is to use scraps to create at least twelve scrappy projects, and then to write blog posts about each of my creations.
My 2024 goal was to make only 3 scrappy projects, and that was much too easy! I actually made more than 30 scrappy projects of varying sizes and complexities during 2024. Twelve projects in a year is just one scrappy project per month, on average, so this will be an achievable yet more challenging goal.
Goal 3- Play With UFOs
Even though my UFO collection is much smaller than it was a few years ago, I still have three UFO quilts that are waiting to be finished.
My goal is to finish “Lone Star” and also to choose one of the other UFOs shown here to take across the finish line this year.
Goal 4- Play With Online Friends
I enjoy interacting with the quilting friends that I’ve made online.
My goal is to continue to participate in several regularly-scheduled activities, including-
“One Monthly Goal”, hosted by Anne at “Stories from the Sewing Room”

“PHD in 2025” (I’ll be hosting again this year!)

“Rainbow Scrap Challenge”, hosted by Angela at “So Scrappy”

“2025 Planning Party”, hosted by Yvonne at “QuiltingJetGirl”

Goal 5 – Play with Others (In Person)
It’s SO easy for me to stay at home and be a hermit. I grew up on a farm and I learned how to amuse myself whenever I had some free time. I am perfectly content to spend my days at home with Mr. Fix-It, the dogs, a book, and my sewing machine, and I find myself doing so fairly frequently now that I’ve retired. However, I know that having an active social life is a healthier choice.
My “new” goal for 2025 is to be deliberately social, aiming for an average of one “social event” per week. (Doctor appointments and quick trips to the store will NOT count, nor will chatting with the neighbors when I walk the dogs.). I will record social activities on my calendar to help me be mindful of this goal.
You’ll probably have noticed that each goal this year starts out with “Play”. Life is short, so why not enjoy yourself!
What plans do you have for 2025? Do tell! I love reading your comments.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Your. goals sound very reasonable!!! I’ll have to see if I can plan some similar “play!” 😊

A very diverse set of goals. I struggled with the hermit tendency my first year of retirement. I was lucky my quilt shop starting offering late night sew one night a week and that’s become one of my two weekly social engagements.

Thanks Kate! There are two quilt guilds in my area, and I intend to visit both of them. Perhaps I’ll find some kindred spirits there. . . Happy New Year! Ms P Designs USA
