Hi Quilting Friends,
Our prompt for this week was to add “sliced square with insert” to the quilt top in progress. I’m glad that Wendy and the other hosts provided pictures of their SAHRR quilts, because I had some difficulty deciding what to make for this prompt.
After looking at the examples provided by our hosts, I decided to make my blocks almost like Kathleen’s blocks for this round. My blocks are 4″ square (finished size), which I plan to use for my outside border. (Unless I change my mind, again.) I used a red print with small blue and white stars for the sliced squares and a blue blender for the inserts to create the Round 4 pieces.

Here’s a photo of my quilt, with Rounds 1 through 4 present (though they are still not attached to each other). This process is a little like completing a jigsaw puzzle, where we can see the individual pieces but their exact placement remains to be solved.

I still need to add Rounds 5 and 6 to finish up the quilt top, so we’ll see how I end up making it work. Every time I finish a round, I have at least two or three more new ideas about how to put the pieces together. This is both challenging and fun!
Happy quilting,
Sharon

I love how you did your slice blocks and the staggered effect is perfect! It’s coming together nicely, Sharon!

Thanks! I am enjoying the process; it’s a much different approach to design than what I normally do. Ms P Designs USA

It’s definitely taking shape. I too am really liking those uneven split squares ,both in your project and Kathleens.
