Hi Quilting Friends,
Our prompt for this week was to add kite blocks, other blocks that begin with “K”, or blocks that begin with the first letter of our name (“S” is for Sharon). Hmm.
I decided, after looking at other posts and searching the internet, that I would make “Straight 4-Patch” blocks for the next row around my quilt. The “Ohio Star” blocks that I made for Round 3 will be placed in the corners. The blocks finish at 6″ square, and they will be identical to this one-

I added a 1″ frame of red around the center section to increase the size to 36.5″, making the math for the Round 6 blocks much easier. I’ll need a total of 24 blocks, and I’m not finished with them yet. I also need to make additional pieces for Round 4 now that I’ve decided upon the finished size of my quilt (56″ by 56″).
Here’s a photo of my quilt in progress so you can see where I’m going with it, all laid out on my design floor-

I should have time to stitch up the rest of the blocks by the end of the week, so I’ll add an updated photo later on.
UPDATE- Here’s my quilt top, ready to be quilted.

My next challenge is to finish this project in time for the SAHRR 2025 parade of quilts in March.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Thank you! I’m still stitching away to make enough blocks, but I like it so far. Ms P Designs USA

Your design choices really work, it’s going to be a beautiful SAHRR. You’d never guess that each round was inspired by a prompt and that you weren’t working from a pattern.

Thanks Kate! I like to think of it as creating my own pattern, which is an excellent design challenge.
