Hi Quilting Friends,
Step right up and get your ticket for the Greatest Show on Earth, brought to you by Ms P and the barnyard animals! That’s right- “Barnyard Big Top” has come to town!
Here’s how it all began, once upon a time on a farm in Far Far Away. . .
Our lovely sow, Poppy, was Mother to seven piglets. The piglets were so cute well-behaved that Poppy believed she won the piglet lottery! Imagine Poppy’s surprise when the piglets grew up and began to drive her crazy with their tattling!
“Mom, he’s touching me!”
“Mom, she made fun of my hair!”
“Mom, please send him back to wherever you got him!”
Poppy had enough! “All of you piglets need to go outside and find something better to do, and don’t come back until supper time.” The piglets hung their heads and headed outside.
“Hey! Do you remember the story that the farmer’s daughter told us about going to the circus?” asked Vincent. “It sounded wonderful! Maybe we could put on a circus in the barn this afternoon.” Everyone agreed that it was a great idea, and so the piglets (Cupcake, Samantha, Vincent, Squeaky, Lincoln, Gordy and Hamm) sat down to figure out who would do what in the circus.
Vincent, of course, called dibs on being the ringmaster.

Cupcake (our fashionista) thought that she’d look fabulous balancing on a ball with an umbrella.

Our delightful duo, Squeaky and Samatha, thought that aerial acrobatics would be fun to learn. Look at the trust in Samatha’s eyes as they fly through the air!

Hamm decided that juggling would be right up his alley. He couldn’t find anything to juggle, so he decided that Eeny, Meeny, Miney and Moe would be the perfect “balls” for juggling.

Just them, Marley (the barn cat), snuck up behind Lincoln and stuck a claw deep into his hind end. “OUCH! That CAT,” oinked Lincoln, “he will be tamed, one way or another!”

Gordy was always jealous when the farmer’s son rode his pedal tractor. “It will only be for one night, and he’ll never notice if I borrow it!” Hmmm, look who Gordy chose to ride in the trailer. That’s his good friend, Willy, of course. Willy doesn’t look like he’s enjoying his ride at all!

The piglets soon realized that there aren’t quite enough of them to present an entire circus. Who else will they choose to help them perform in “The Greatest Show on Earth”? Come back next week to see!
All of the cute piglets in today’s story are available to purchase as PDF applique patterns.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s story! We’d love to know your thoughts on “Barnyard Big Top”, so please leave a comment- it makes our day!
Happy quilting,
Susan & Sharon

These are so fun, Sharon and Susan! Great little characters! I had to laugh at the story about the piglets being sent out of the house. DH said his mom would send them out first thing in the morning and they were told to NOT come back in until they were called. LOL Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!

Thanks Brenda! Our mom did the same thing, probably the only way to have some peace with four kids at home all summer. 😁
