Hi Quilting Friends,
My “One Monthly Goal” for May was to piece the blocks for our new Autumn throw quilt. Ta-done, and here’s a picture to prove it!

I decided to make a total of 13 pieced blocks instead of only 12, each with a different color of fabric for the rectangles that surround the center square.
I couldn’t find a name for this specific block design, so I’m calling it “Churn Dash Chain” because it’s a churn dash variation that creates diagonal chains in the layout.

So that’s it. I’m in love with the autumn print and the intense colors of the hand-dyed fabrics, and I can’t wait to see how it will look when I combine these pieced blocks with the acorn and leaf applique blocks that I finished up in April.

I could probably finish piecing the quilt top this week, but why rush things! I still have decisions to make about the specific block positions, borders, backing, and quilting, and I’m not in any hurry.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy quilting,
Sharon

I’ll be watching Sharon. I really like the vibrancy of these blocks, and the combo of applique and these pieced ones will be interesting.
