Hi Quilting Friends,
The challenge for this week’s round, as presented by Kathleen, was to “make it a double”. Kathleen provided several examples for the prompt, which helped with choosing the next round for our quilts.
I opted to make mine “Double Four-patch”, and I created just four blocks that will finish at 4″ square.

I used two fabrics for my blocks; the deep plum hand-dyed solid that I used for the narrow inner border, and a beautiful butterscotch batik with plum dots. Both fabrics are from my batiks scrap bin, and I probably have enough left over from both pieces to make enough double 4-patch blocks to complete the entire border. (I would need twelve more blocks.) I’m just not sure if I want to do that at this time, and I’m pretty sure that I don’t have time to make them at the moment.
I haven’t yet decided about how these “double” blocks will be incorporated into the quilt top. There are SO many options available to me, and I’m sure that I’ll be inspired to choose after I’ve seen the prompts for the next round or two.
You can read more about my progress on the previous posts-

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you like my project, so far.
Happy quilting,
Sharon
Very cool looking blocks. Probably wise to make a few and then reassess when this week’s clue comes out. You are off to a really good start.

Thank you! I agree; I’ll make a decision after I see the next clue or two. That’s what I did last year, and it worked out well for my project.

I also made most of the prompt’s blocks, but held off finishing them: I see that a lot in this QAL, and it seems to work for us! Again, I just love the colors and how the layers are building up, adding a richness to the quilt.

Thank you so much! This feels like a jigsaw puzzle at the moment. I know the the pieces will fit, but I don’t know where. Happy quilting!

Your double four patch blocks look great and I think it’s smart to wait for more information before deciding where some elements will be included!
