Hi Quilting Friends,
My “One Monthly Goal” for March was to finish the quilting and binding for Anna’s quilt, in time for her March 28 birthday. I call Anna my “co-Madre”, since she is my daughter-in-law’s Mom. And her birthday gift is Ta-done!

You may recall that my “One Monthly Goal” for January was to piece this quilt, and you can read more about that process HERE.
My initial plan for finishing Anna’s quilt was to take it to Susan’s studio and quilt it on her longarm quilting machine, but life has been hectic and challenging for both of us of late and we couldn’t make it happen. I decided that, due to the time constraints for this finish, I would quilt it on my own with help from Princess Nina.
Each different area on the quilt has its own quilting design, which made it fun to do. I would get very bored with quilting it all using the same pattern everywhere!
The binding is the same navy solid that I used for the narrow border frames. The backing is a neutral wood grain print, which really shows off the quilting. I must confess that I almost like the back better than the front of the quilt.

Here’s the label that I added on the back-
” 🖤 Made for my Co-Madre, Anna 🖤 Sharon Andersen, Houston Texas, March 2026 🖤”
I’m planning to deliver Anna’s quilt to her next weekend, and I promise to add a picture of us with her quilt a little later.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing Anna’s quilt.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Fun quilt, Sharon, and great you were able to quilt it on Princess Nina, whom I am guessing has that wonderful Bernina BSR!! I used to use my BSR on my 830 prior to getting my longarm. Now the 990 has a built in BSR, though I haven’t used it yet. You did a great job and I love the variety of motifs. I like your name for your daughter-in-law’s mom. I call my daughter’s mother-in-law, the mother outlaw – cause, well, she’s family but outside the immediate family, thus outlaw! LOL Have a great week.

Thank you! Princess Nina is my Bernina 770QE, and we love that BSR foot.
