February Block of the Month

Hi Quilting Friends!

February brings a special day of love!  Valentine’s Day is filled with hearts, flowers and, of course, Cupid!  Our sweet little elephant (would “sweet” and “little” ever be used to describe an elephant?) is all dressed up as Cupid with a bow of gold and arrows of love.

In Roman mythology, Cupid is the son of Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty.  Cupid is the God of Affection.  Cupid shoots his magical arrows at gods and humans to make them fall truly, madly, deeply in love!

But wait!  Cupid carries two kinds of arrows, one sharp and the other with a blunt tip of lead.  If you are struck with the sharp arrow, you’ll fall madly in love; however, if you are struck with the blunt arrow, you are struck with aversion and want to run away!  Sort of like the blind date that Sharon arranged for me, back when I was single!  And here I thought that my aversion came from my date ordering liver and onions for dinner, not a lead arrow from Cupid!  To clarify, this was way back in the olden days when I was single.  My husband does not allow me to date anyone but him.  LOL!

Since our baby elephant is dressed as Cupid, why not surround him with hearts to remind us all that love comes in many forms.  I love my friends, my family and my pets!
