Hi fellow elephant lovers and quilters!
This month we celebrate Father’s Day! This month’s elephant is the #1 Dad who is all geared up to go fishing!
The little fish that he caught is smiling, because he knows this kind-hearted dad is a firm believer in catch and release! I chose the background for this block because it looked like water and a happy summer’s day!
Father’s Day is a celebration of fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. It has been celebrated on March 19 (St. Joseph’s Day) since the middle ages; however, it wasn’t until Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972 (after Mother’s Day had been celebrated in the U.S. for almost 40 years) that Father’s Day became a national holiday in the U.S. We celebrate our dads on the third Sunday in June. There’s also International Men’s Day on November 19 in honor of all the men and boys who are not yet fathers!
This joyful Dad pattern is now available to purchase- just click the link below.

Thanks for the pattern and for the paragraph about Father’s Day. I didn’t know that it had been March 19 and celebrated so long!

Also, thank you for number the patterns and adding the month. That’s how I like to organize them, too, inside a folder with the pattern name, and I always have to add that to everyone else’s! =)

I learned to organize files this way at work for all of my curriculum. Makes it much easier to find what I need.

We didn’t know that either, but found it when doing a little research for the post. Interesting stuff! :o)
