Hi Quilting Friends,
One of my personal goals for 2020 is to participate in the online quilting community, and so I’ve chosen to work on my PHD in 2020 with Gail at QuiltingGail!
Here’s what I’ve been working on since my last update!
Project #4: Plum & Gold King-sized Quilt

Ta-da! The quilting is all finished, and I love how it came out. I’ve started hand-stitching the binding to the back of the quilt, so it won’t be long before I can put this project into the “finally finished” column. Yay!

Project #7: Make a wall hanging from one of these patterns

I have traced and cut out all of the pieces that I’ll need for the “Guiding Light” wall hanging, except for the snow (which I don’t have yet). I’ll make a trip to the LQS for the sky and snow background fabrics, and then I can continue to the next steps.

Project #10: Scrappy Goose Trails Quilt

I’ve purchased fabric for the back of this quilt, and I’ve been thinking about how I want to quilt it. This will be my goal for July!
Project #14: Berry Wreath Throw
Finished! I decided to add this as a PHD project, even though it wasn’t on my initial list, because:
- It was a UFO. I had forgotten all about it! It is pretty likely that it would have made my original list had I remembered that it existed.
- It is now finished. I picked it up and hand-quilted the striped borders, the triangle borders, and the pieced blocks. I started quilting again at the end of May and wrapped up the binding in a week or so ago.
I hope that this addition doesn’t violate the spirit of “PHD in 2020”. I’m on track to finish my other projects, and I wanted to celebrate this finish by including it on the list.
New Projects
I’ve finished stitching the blocks for our “Stash-Bustin’ Scrappy Sampler”, which will debut in January. I have a plan for some pretty pieced borders to finish up the quilt top, so that’s next on this endeavor. I’m going to sneak in a picture of part of the quilt, since you’ve been patiently waiting to see some of my “secret sewing”. It has been fun to play around with my collection of solids! Stay tuned for more information about our “Stash-Bustin’ Scrappy Sampler Sew-Along”; we will announce the details in the Fall!

I’ve also been stitching projects to show for our “12 Days of Christmas” series in December. This block will be part of a table runner! The runner is quilted and ready for binding.

Here’s my updated spreadsheet for 2020:

Happy Quilting,
Sharon
And I’ve just discovered the “Favorite Finish” monthly linkup with Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs!
Fantastic progress! You have listed quite a lot of work for July too. Keep up the good work!
