Hi Quilting Friends,
We’re pleased to participate in the 2020 “It’s A Garden Party” Row Along! We appreciate our quilting friend Marian at “Seams To Be Sew” for organizing the Row Along again this year. We want to thank the sponsors who have provided the giveaways for the Row Along. Special thanks to Northcott Fabrics, who generously supplied most of the beautiful fabric for the row model that you’ll see here today.
Introducing- Pinwheel Posey Parade!

We decided to use a flower-themed design for this year’s “It’s A Garden Party” row. We come from a long line of women who love flower gardens, and so our design is a pretty (quilted) flower border.
Susan designed the pretty pieced flowers for our row, with heights that vary across the 12″ by 30″ row. Even though this row has a lot of pieces, the pattern is appropriate for the advanced beginner quilter because the pattern shows how to use quick precision piecing techniques to help with both speed and accuracy.
Sharon created the row using (mostly) Northcott Fabrics’ “Toscana” line. (Thank you, Northcott! We just LOVE “Toscana”!) The image below shows the color numbers of the Toscana fabrics that we used to make the flowers in our “Pinwheel Posey Parade” row. Aren’t they gorgeous!

So, the row is cute, fun, and easy to piece, but what could you make with this “Pinwheel Posey Parade” row? Sharon made a list of ideas for inspiration:
- Use several rows to make a sweet baby quilt
- Frame the row to make a bench pillow
- Add a border to create a runner or dresser scarf
- Finish a single 1-leaf flower as a mug rug
- Add a 3-leaf flower to a place mat
- Make a tote bag that features a pretty pieced posey (or two)
- Stitch up a pair of hot pads with the 1-leaf flower
- Make a bed runner with two or three repeats of the row
- Make a throw pillow with 2-leaf and 3-leaf flowers
- You’ve got the idea now! What would YOU create?
Here’s a picture of the bench pillow that Sharon made with her completed row! Just add a narrow frame to the row, and then add borders to create the size that you need. Quilt the front, layer the pillow back, and use the binding to finish it off. Easy peasy!

Thank you so much for visiting today! We hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing our “Pinwheel Posey Parade” row. Please leave a comment- it will make our day!
Happy quilting,
Sharon and Susan
