Hi Quilting Friends,
My goal for May was to finish quilting and binding the “Mariner’s Star” place mats and table runner that I pieced for my April OMG. All done, as you can see!

I did some straight-line quilting in the background around the star, to make them “pop”. In-the-ditch quilting around the dark frames and some additional straight line quilting in the borders and rectangles finished up the quilting. I used dark teal binding to match the frames.
Such a satisfying finish! This set will (eventually) be a gift for someone special, and the pattern will be available soon in Ms P’s Pattern Shop.
Happy quilting,
Sharon
Very nice, Sharon! I’ve never tried a Mariner’s Compass. The thought of Y seams scares me as much as curved piecing! LOL

Thank you! This block is foundation pieced, with no curves or Y seams, so it is fairly simple to make. I’ve made Mariner’s Compass too, but the stars were my own design. :o)

Such a pretty runner! Love the fabrics – it’s so bright and cheerful. I haven’t made a Mariner’s Compass block, but I do love them.
