Hi Quilting Friends,
Sharon here. I’m excited to share the most recent addition to our catalog of quilt pattern designs, so with no further ado, here’s a look at the”Mariner’s Star” place mats and table runner:
I was inspired to create this new design when I purchased this gorgeous “Spot On” fabric by Northcott Fabrics last fall. The color is “Peacock”:

I chose five coordinating solids from Northcott’s “Canvas” line, along with some “Stonehenge” blender, and I used them to foundation piece my seven identical “Mariner’s Star” blocks:

Don’t be intimidated by this pretty Mariner’s Star block! Unlike the traditional Mariner’s Compass block, the Mariner’s Star is foundation pieced, with no curves or Y-seams.
I surrounded the pieced blocks with narrow solid frames and a pieced border. The polka dot fabric adds width to the place mats and unifies the blocks on the table runner.

I really love this design, so I decided to make a set of six place mats in this colorway:

If you’d like to create your own beautiful “Mariner’s Star” place mats and/or table runner, the pattern is available to purchase here:
