Hi Quilting Friends,
Welcome to the “Foodie” blog hop! This month’s challenge was to share a project that involves food; either something to use for cooking & serving food OR a project that features food-themed fabric. Thanks for the challenge and for hosting the blog hop go to our quilting friend Carla at “Creatin’ in the Sticks”! It sounds delicious, and our mouths are watering with anticipation.
I’m not a “Foodie”, but I like food. A lot. I enjoy cooking food (when there’s time to linger in the kitchen), sitting down to a delicious meal, and sharing the food that I prepare with the people that I love. I suppose that makes me a “food lover”.
A tasty meal is even more enjoyable with a pretty table runner or a set of colorful place mats decorating the table. I believe that taking time to create a beautiful table makes any meal into a special occasion, regardless of the food on the plates. Here are a few favorite table decor designs from Ms P’s Pattern Shop –
I spent quite a bit of time debating with myself about what to make for the “Foodie” blog hop, and I finally settled on a project that I’ve been putting off for a while –

There are six small place mats in this set, each with one of our new “Tall Coffee Mug” blocks in the center. I added a black scalloped border to enlarge the squares, and then framed the blocks with the same black and white print that I used for the coffee mugs. I added some color with binding to match the miniature quilt block in the center, after quilting around each mug and around the scallops.
The place mats, which finished at 12″ x 12″, are perfect to use for our morning coffee and toast or fruit, or for soup & a sandwich at lunch time. They’ll also be great to use for game nights, providing everyone a spot for their beverage and snack plate.
If you like the “Tall Coffee Mug” patterns, they are available in Ms P’s Pattern Shop!

We hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing my new place mat set, and I can’t wait to start using them. Do you have a favorite?
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don’t forget to visit the rest of today’s participating bloggers, and leave a comment too.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Those are great placemats, Sharon. I love the mugs – remind me of barn quilt coffee mugs!!! The pop of color really sets them off!

I like your placemats. I am guilty of not sitting down to a table to eat….perhaps after I move I will make sure I sit down to eat at a table, and make sure that I have a table runner or “gasp” a placemat. I was obviously raised by wolves. 😀

I love the little blocks you included on the cups, what a great way to personalize a block! These would also make great labels on the back of a quilt… ooo ideas are beginning to form in my mind, thank you for that!
