July PHD in 2022 Update

Hi Quilting Friends,

I’m posting my July update a bit late because I’ve been in Montana, spending time with my Montana family. If you’ve never visited Montana, you should add it to your “bucket list”. The mountains are glorious!

PHD in 2022 Project List

Project #3: “Swamp Thang” Nursery Quilt

My “One Monthly Goal” for July was to stitch out the four cute alligator blocks. Ta-Done! A “sneaky peek” must suffice for now, even though the quilt is nearly finished. I’m busily writing the pattern for “Swamp Thang”, which should be ready for release in late August.

Project #6: Star Party Sampler Quilt

I’ve finished piecing the quilt top and border, and here’s a sneaky peek. I love it, and now I have a question – How many quilts are TOO many?

The “Star Party” block collection will be our 2023 sew-along, with releases starting in January. I hope to get it finished before the end of this year.

Project #10: Scrappy “Jewel of the Prairie” Quilt
Snail's Trail Batik Top by Sharon

Progress, at last! I’ve quilted in the ditch with invisible thread around each of the large blocks, and I’ve quilted all of the scrappy “snail’s trail” blocks and the larger star blocks. It’s hard to see the quilting, so I’ll post a photo when I have more finished.

My “One Monthly Goal” for August is to continue quilting this UFO. I won’t be more specific with my goal as to how much quilting will be done, since school is starting soon and my stitching time will be limited, but I will make time to quilt even when I’m busy.

Project #12: Sticks and Stones Scrappy Quilt

I’ve stitched up all of the blocks that I’ll need for the quilt, and then I finished making the quilt top. Here’s a picture!

New Projects

I didn’t start any new sewing projects during July because I took a 10-day trip to Montana, and before the trip I was really busy getting my new quilting studio set up. (Read more in my “Mid-Year Goal Update” post.) The studio space is going to be SEW nice when it’s finished. Here’s a quick photo of part of the new space-

Ongoing Projects

The #RSC2022 color for July was PURPLE, which just happens to be my favorite color!

Sawtooth Star

Don’t the multi-colored dots make fun star points?

Carolina Chain

I added 24 blocks to my Carolina Chain collection, 12 light and 12 dark.

Here’s my UFO list for PHD in 2022, which is the same as it was in June despite significant progress on several of my projects:

    1. Thanks Brenda! It is such fun to spend time with family; I don’t even care that I’m a little behind with other things. Family is more important, always. :o)
