12 Days of Christmas #7

Hi Quilting Friends,

Welcome to Day #7 of our “12 Days of Christmas” blog series. We trust that you’re enjoying our posts so far! We’ve had fun sharing with you, and reading your comments each day.

Susan here! I hope that you aren’t tired of Christmas stockings yet!  My two final stocking designs were created especially for my dear friend, Jeanette, and her husband, Mitch.  Since we worked together for several years, Jeanette gets sneaky peeks of all my newest designs, and she provides ideas that help me from the design perspective, so she deserves a unique handmade stocking to celebrate our friendship, and to show my appreciation.

Jeanette’s Christmas decorating style is “primitive”, so I designed their stockings more minimalist and incorporated the deeper reds and greens in favor of the bright colors that I usually choose.  And forget about sequins and the bling; Jeanette would like beads or buttons instead.  Jeanette loves birds, hearts and stars, so her stocking needed these three elements.  She loved the rose that I used for my Christmas bed runner and pillows, so it would become the centerpiece of her stocking.  I LOVE it when a plan comes together.

This was supposed to be a surprise; however, I was showing Jeanette something else on my phone and she “accidently” saw a picture of her stocking before I was ready to gift it to her!  Here is Jeanette’s stocking:

Following the minimalist vibe, Mitch’s stocking has a snowman with a flannel hat and scarf.  I added stars to his stocking to tie the two designs together, then I broke the rules and added snowflake sequins to create this cute stocking.  Here is Mitch’s stocking:

I enjoy designing and making stockings so much that these will definitely not be the last stockings that I design.  Sharon pointed out that I have made all these wonderful for other people, but my hubby and I do not yet have stockings of our own.  Time to put on my thinking cap and come up with designs just for us! You’ll see them some time in 2023.

If you want to make special stockings for your loved ones, all of the patterns are now in our pattern shop.

Update- Congratulations to Cindy L, winner of the Primitive Snowman stocking pattern! Which stocking design do you love the most? Enter today’s giveaway to win your choice of the “Primitive Flower” or the “Primitive Snowman” stocking pattern. Entries will be accepted through December 8, and the winner will be notified via email by December 10. Good luck!

Now that you’ve seen ALL of Ms P’s Christmas stocking designs, is there anything that we’ve missed? Leave a comment with your suggestions; we love to hear from you!

Happy quilting,

Susan & Sharon
