Hi Quilting Friends,
Sharon here. It’s that time of the year, again! I’ve been thinking about goals for the New Year, and I’ve made a list of 5 goals that I plan to accomplish in 2023. I have found that I do a better job of staying accountable when I share my goals with you.

Here goes!
Goal #1: Play with the toys
I still have a few “toys” in my studio that haven’t been played with, yet. My goal is to choose a toy (or two), play with it, and then show & tell about what I’ve made.

Goal #2: Use the scraps & stash
Even though I’ve made a LOT of scrappy quilts during the past couple of years, my scrap supply and stash are still quite extensive. My goal for 2023 is to use scraps and stash fabrics to complete at least three more scrappy projects. (I’m allowed to purchase backing and sashing for said projects, but only when absolutely necessary.)

Goal #3: Finish one of those BIG quilts
Most of my unfinished quilt tops from years ago are done, but I have several recent projects that are still on the list to be quilted. I’ll choose one (maybe two, if I get ambitious and have the time) of the quilts from the slideshow below to take all the way to the finish line in 2023!
Goal #4: Play with online quilting friends
My goal for 2023 is to continue “playing” with online quilting friends, as I have been this year, for the following activities –
- Monthly blog hops with Carla, Carol, and Joan
- PHD in 2023 with Quilting Gail
- #RSC2023 with Angela
- 2023 Planning Party with Yvonne, starting with this post!
Goal #5: Get to know Princess Nina
I recently upgraded my 27-year-old Bernina 1530 to a brand new Bernina 770 QE Plus. (Don’t worry; the 1530 is retired, but alive and well as she waits in the wings in case the new kid in town needs to visit the spa.) I haven’t had much time yet to explore all of the features of my new sewing assistant. My goal for 2023 is to become acquainted with “Princess Nina” as I create my projects, and to post about the wonderful things that we do together. We’re going to have SEW much fun this year!

That’s it! I’ll stick with these five goals that are sufficiently challenging for me to accomplish in a year’s time.
Do you set goals for your quilting or blogging? For your work? For your health? Do tell! I love reading your comments.
Happy quilting,
Sharon

That sounds like a great party plan, Sharon!! Oooh, those to be quilted quilts are gorgeous. Having just finished the Lone Star blog hop, I’m partial to the first one…but I absolutely LOVE #3 and #4 too! I look forward to seeing which you choose! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What a great mix of goals – some new things, taking care of some old things, learning new skills and meeting (virtually) new people. Sounds like a really balanced set of goals and conducive to a lot of fun! Have a great 2023!
