March One Monthly Goal

Hi Quilting Friends,

My “One Monthly Goal” for March was to get my “Sawtooth Star” throw quilt ready for quilting, and choose a plan for quilting it. Ta-done!

The blocks for this quilt were stitched during 2021 and 2022 for the “Rainbow Scrap Challenge”, made with scraps from my stash. I “had to” go shopping for a pretty backing fabric, and ended up choosing one with a rainbow of dots to complement the pieced rainbow of sawtooth stars on the quilt. I came up with a quilting plan as I safety-pin basted the quilt sandwich, so I went ahead and quilted it too.

I stitched straight diagonal lines through the center of each block in both directions, and added a diamond in each area between the star points. I kept the quilting simple to show off the design of the blocks, and I am happy with the result. The binding is solid black like the cornerstones, and I have finished stitching it down.

I’ve also written up a pattern for the “Scrappy Sawtooth Star Quilt”, available in Ms P’s Pattern Shop.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you’re having a magnificent March too.

Happy quilting,

Sharon
