Hi Quilting Friends,
Welcome to the “Rose-Colored Glasses” Sew It Show It challenge, hosted by our friend Carol at “Just Let Me Quilt”. Our challenge was to create and share a project that features a positive mind-set, glasses, and/or rose-colored fabrics. Here we go!
To get us all in the mood, let’s listen to this song first!
“La Vie En Rose” – “because I’m so in love with you, I see life through rose-colored glasses.” Rose-colored glasses make everything in our lives appear to be more beautiful! In Ms. P’s rose-colored world, whimsy is the rule, fierce animals look gentle, and anything is possible!
Susan here.
Today we’d like to introduce you to our new Spring bed runner, shams, and pillows which prominently feature pink! I’m feeling optimistic that my quilting machine, Rosie, and I have finally established a positive working relationship. All it took was a new ethernet cable for her, and some more practice for me. Look at what a nice job Rosie did, quilting the bed runner!

When I think of Spring, I joyfully think of tulips and bright spring colors. I decided that this design would have cute little bears holding tulips, and incorporate some of the fresh hues of Spring. My go-to fabrics are Toscana blenders from Northcott (don’t tell anyone, but I have pieces of all the current fabrics in the collection), so I began my search for the perfect colors. Once I gathered all my fabrics, I started piecing the bed runner.

I wanted the pillow shams to not distract from the cuteness of the runner, so it has a simple pieced top.

Because I have a Gund teddy bear who was my inspiration for all the bed runner sets (see our Christmas and Fall sets via the link below. Our Summer and Winter sets will be released later this year), I wanted to ensure that the bears were prominently featured on the Spring pillows and that the color of the appliqued bears complimented my teddy bear.

When you put them all together on the guest bed in my studio, you see this:

I need your help please! Please leave a comment to help me name my adorable teddy bear. Her name should be as whimsical as our designs, and I’m open to suggestions.
Thank you for coming to visit us today! See the links below for all the other hoppers that you should visit to see their interpretations of rose colored glasses. We hope that you’ll have a beautiful, rose-colored day.
Happy Quilting!
Susan

‘Love the runner and pillows. A few years ago I made bed runners for family members and they actually had never heard of them. Maybe it is a quilting thing? How about Lilly for the bear’s name?
