Hi Quilting Friends,
February is the month of Love! Welcome to the “It Moose Be Love” Sew It Show It challenge, hosted by our friend Joan at MooseStash Quilts.
Our challenge this time- “Show us what it is that you love. Moose are optional of course. LOL!!” All righty then. We’re up for this challenge, and to prove it, here’s a slide show of projects past with plenty of love (and a few moose too)!
Here’s a love song that the challenge’s name brought to mind, and we both love music! (My brain sings the lyrics as “It moose be love”, LOL)
Sharon here. I decided to make a pair of sweet place mats for Valentine’s Day using one of my previous designs and fabrics that I had on hand in the studio. Here’s a picture!
The first place mats that I made with this pattern are bright and fun. I love them, we use them often, and everyone at my house enjoys the neon colors.
I wanted to create something a bit more traditional this time around, so I chose a cute red and white print from my stash for the background. I pieced the larger hearts and the film strip borders with strips from my collection of red scraps. A few larger scraps were used to piece the smaller stacked hearts, and then I used a print from my stash for the binding and a fun pink print (with kissy lips!) on the back. Here’s another view, but Someone is ready for a kiss!
I placed my project on the bench for a photo, and Astrid hopped right up for her closeup, LOL.
I quilted close to the edges of the hearts and the borders, and then I had some fun with Princess Nina’s “fancy” stitches. I used three stitch patterns from the decorative stitching folders, all with a heart motif. Everything was stitched with my favorite pale gray thread. SEW much fun!

Wow, you sure had a lot to share with all those quilts and animals. Loved the ‘sheepy’ smile on the moose’s face. 🙂 Great!

Great mats, and I love your photo bomber. My Loki is the same way, except he loves getting on my work table and laying down on my projects while making them. Thank you Astrid for the smile this morning.

Thank you! I’m pretty sure that Astrid would be up on the sewing table if she could do so. She loves to be right in the middle of anything that’s happening. 🩷 Ms P Designs USA

Those scrappy heart placemats are really cute. The traditional red and white is really fun, but the bright scrappy ones are my favorite of the two.
