Hi Quilting Friends,
If you know us, you are already aware that we’re not big on following the latest trends. We like what we like, and we don’t pay a lot of attention to the latest fads and fashions. However, we sometimes depart from our usual ways and try out something new.
Sharon here today. I’ve recently become acquainted with the Stanley cup trend. If you discussed this with me last year, I would have assumed that you were talking about a top-notch ice hockey team who won a lot of matches. I’ve see n several of my female students toting around their huge metal water containers every day, but the trend wasn’t on my radar. I just figured that those girls were ensuring adequate hydration.

This is the Stanley cup that was given to me by our son for Christmas, and I really like it. The water stays cold, the ice takes forever to melt, and the enormous size means fewer trips away from my studio for a refill. I guess that I’m just trendy like that, LOL.
Another trend that I’ve become aware of recently is the lowly mushroom. I enjoy consuming mushrooms because they are delicious and nutritious, but now I’m seeing mushrooms popping up in the kitchen, garden, and even nursery decor aisles in our shops. I recently attended a mushroom-themed baby shower, so I jumped on this trend and created a mushroom baby quilt!

We call it “Enchanted Woodland Mushrooms”, and it was such fun to make!

The simple pieced blocks go together quickly, without any fancy shapes or tricky seams. The mushrooms are really simple too; just two or three easy pieces and a bit of embroidery for each of the adorable fungi. I decided to put three of each size mushroom on the quilt.

The appliques lend themselves well to other projects. I want to stitch up a few more mushrooms for a tea towel and a pair of hotpads for our kitchen. Wouldn’t that be cute & trendy! (Not that I care much about trends, mind you, but I really like the mushrooms.) If you like mushrooms too (trendy or not), the pattern is available now from Ms P’s Pattern Shop!

And, because I can’t resist a Dad joke-

Thanks for stopping by today! We hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing our new design, and we’d love to know what you think about mushrooms. Drop a comment; it makes our day!
Happy quilting,
Sharon & Susan
Adorable quilt, Sharon! I am seeing mushrooms popping up too! Very cute. I have not heard of the Stanley cup trend either, but, hey, anything that keeps you in the studio longer!! LOL Have a great week!

A good water bottle is essential, but I’m not a Stanley fan at this point. The mushroom quilt is really cute. Have fun playing with more designs.
