Hi Quilting Friends,
The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for April is PINK. I’ve shared my pretty pink coffee mug and pink “Signature Squares” already. April is really zipping along, and today it’s time for the pink zipper bag!
Zipper Bag
For reasons that I cannot recall, I had cut a fairly substantial stack of 2″ x 2″ squares in PINK so that was my starting point for this month’s (large) PINK zipper bag.

I sewed the PINK squares together randomly to make two bands of five by ten squares each. (That’s 100 little squares out of my PINK scrap bin!) I added a narrow band of lime green print and a strip of my lining fabric on the bottom of each pieced band to make the front and back panels in the size that I needed.
You might be wondering, “Why the narrow lime green strip?” Let me explain. I bought a pack of “assorted color” zippers for bag making, online. Guess which color was not included. That’s right- PINK. The lining print has grasshoppers on a bright PINK background and some of them are lime green, so I used lime green as an accent on the outside of my bag. I like it, and I hope that the recipient of this bag will like the whimsical grasshoppers too!

The zipper bag used about 1/2 yard total of my scraps and stash fabric, as well as a chunk of leftover batting, and it will be a gift for someone special later this year.
I hope that you’re having a lovely April! We’ve had some nice, rainy days and so the flowers are blooming like crazy. I hope that all is well in your part of the world.
Happy quilting,
Sharon
