Hi Quilting Friends,
If you were with us last week for “Space Race, Episode 1”, you’ll probably recall that we showed you several of our new “Space Race” quilt designs. If you missed it, you can read about it here. This week’s “Space Race” designs are more closely related to science fiction than they are to reality.
Are you a sci-fi fan? I enjoy the science fiction genre! I’m a huge “Star Wars” fan, a devoted “Trekkie”, and I especially love the classic film, “The Day the Earth Stood Still”! The blend of imagination, creativity, technology, and science is very appealing to me.
Here’s a song to get your brain ready for today’s introductions!
So, without further ado, here are the rest of our “Space Race” designs:
And here he is, from a galaxy far, far away! The legendary one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater, who loves short-shorts! Imagine him, playing rock-n-roll music through the horn in his head. I’d bet that he can really knock ’em dead!
Hey, diddle diddle! Look who’s out for a jaunt in space, now that she has jumped over the moon! Don’t you just adore her perky pink space suit? I have a LOT of questions about this whole situation: Where in the universe did that dish and spoon go when they ran away together? What ever happened to the cat and her fiddle? Is the little dog laughing now?
Haven’t you always wanted a friendly robot to help you with your chores? I really loved Rosie on “The Jetson’s” when I was a kid. Rosie cooked meals, cleaned the house, and provided excellent advice while helping with homework. It is now 2019, and I’m still waiting for my very own robot maid. Just sayin’.
This friendly little alien’s spacecraft reminds me of the huge alien ship from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. I think that we should wave back, to promote cordial relations between our galaxies. Or maybe we can just play that sequence of five tones from the movie and see what happens next. . . Perhaps the Mother Ship is within hailing range! Beam me up!
And here’s another happy little alien! Her home planet is located in a galaxy far, far away, but she decided to boldly go out to explore new worlds and discover new life forms! She was a little surprised to find that our solar system has just one star, because hers is a binary system with two stars. Now wouldn’t THAT be something to see, even if you only have two eyes? Wave good-bye now!
I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing the rest of our “Space Race” designs! I sure had loads of fun making them.
Do you enjoy science fiction? What’s your favorite sci-fi movie (or book, if you’re more of a reader)? I’d enjoy hearing from you.
Until next time, live long and prosper!
Happy quilting,
Sharon
