Hi Quilting Friends,
We’re back to finish up our trip to the zoo, featuring the rest of the cute animals from our original “A Day at the Zoo” quilt pattern! If you missed last week’s post, you can catch up right here! Here’s a picture of my original “A Day at the Zoo” quilt, and we’ll see the rest of these animals in today’s post.
Let’s get started with the reptile house and the slithery snake! We always had fun in the reptile house, but it wasn’t always easy to spot the snakes. This guy would probably have trouble blending into the surroundings, with his bright green scales!
The happy hippopotamus,
The hippopotamus at the Memphis Zoo in Tennesee had a sign near the enclosure that read, “Please Don’t Feed Me – I’m fat enough already.” My husband kept trying to trick me into standing near the sign for a photo. Didn’t work, but we do have a photo of our younger son standing next to the sign, LOL.
The Koala Mum keeps her eucalyptus leaves close, and her baby even closer! We saw koalas at the San Antonio Zoo, back when the kids were small.
What is this crocodile up to, with that great big smile? We’ll see you in a while! The Houston Zoo’s crocodile exhibit was near the giraffe pen, so we usually had a look as we went past.
The monkey exhibit is usually lots of fun! The monkey house at the San Antonio Zoo included toys and other activities to keep the monkeys busy. They were quite active during our last visit.
We saw performing sea lions at Sea World in San Antonio! They had excellent training and could do some amazing leaps out of the water.
But, of all of the animals at the zoo, the elephant is my favorite! From the great big papa elephants to the gentle mother elephants, to the little bitty baby elephants, I just love all of them! This pattern shows an African elephant with his (or her) great big floppy ears.
Thanks for coming along with me on our visit to the zoo! I hope that you’ve enjoyed your “Day at the Zoo”. Be sure to come back next time when Susan will show you around the “new” zoo!
Happy quilting,
Sharon
