12 Days of Christmas, Day 9!

Hi Quilting Friends,

Welcome to our 9th Day of Christmas! If you joined us on Day 7, you saw a Christmas stocking which was created for our little friend, Blayke. The project really got me thinking about Christmas stockings, and how any of our applique patterns could be adapted to fit on a Christmas stocking. One of my personal goals for 2019 was to create for the fun of it. To that end, I went to my drawing board and started sketching. Sharon and I have three great nieces, our brother’s granddaughters, so I created Christmas stockings for all three of them, just in time for Christmas!

Here’s the first stocking that I’m sharing with you today! Miss Elianna just turned three, and she lives in Montana where it gets REALLY cold! Although there aren’t any polar bears in Montana, I decided that our Polar Pals bear would be perfect for her stocking. Here’s a picture of the Polar Pals quilt:

I had loads of fun collecting felt (wool-blend), sequins and even more specialty sequins to make Elianna’s special stocking. I love the way it turned out! THEN my family got involved and decided that this would be a super cute pattern for our shop.

But wait! As I said, we have three great nieces! If our customers had little boys, they would be out of luck. Back to my drawing board and more sketching! One of my favorite patterns we added to our shop this year is “Space Race”, with all the critters headed into space. Here’s a picture of the quilt:

I approached my friend at work about whether or not it was weird that I wanted to make a stocking for his son, Ellis, and what would 5-year-old Ellis LOVE for a stocking? My friend told me that Ellis was fascinated with the fact that men landed on the moon 50 years ago, and that he would love a rocket Christmas stocking.

Here’s a picture of Ellis with his stocking. From what I understand, when he received his stocking in October, Ellis hung it on the TV set and has been “storing” his Christmas list and letter to Santa inside, until it is actually time to decorate for Christmas.

Giveaway time! If you’d like to win a free Christmas stocking pattern (your choice of one pattern), use the Rafflecopter Link and complete the task for entry into the giveaway. The giveaway will be open for entries until midnight on December 9. We’ll notify the winner via email on December 11. Good luck!

  2. Super Cute Stockings – job well done! Must admit I am partial to the space monkey, only because we have a grandson. Thanks for all the neat inspiration & designs.

  3. We still hang the stockings even tho the kids are all grown, still put coloring books and crayons in them so everyone is coloring on Christmas Day.
