Hi Quilting Friends,
We’re so happy that you’ve stopped by today for a visit! Today is our day on the “From the Heart” blog hop, hosted by our quilting friend Carol at “Just Let Me Quilt“. We’re excited to visit the rest of the participating bloggers and see what they’ve been making!
Quilters just love to make (and give) quilted gifts to our friends and loved ones! It feels like you put a piece of yourself into things that are handmade, with love. You know what I mean, right? But making an entire quilt for someone is a labor-intensive effort that can take a lot of time, and I’ve been pretty busy with “life” recently. I decided that it would be fun to create a little something to bring joy to two special ladies in my world!

I’ve been making wine totes! What’s a wine tote? It’s a cute little bag that you can use to wrap up a nice bottle of wine, and then recipient will have the bag to use again later. Pretty handy if you’re taking a bottle of wine to share with a friend.
I found the pattern for my wine totes at AllPeopleQuilt.com . You can personalize the tote to suit the recipient by adding a fun applique design before you stitch the pieces together. The applique patterns in Ms P’s Pattern Shop fit on the front of the tote quite nicely.

The tote above is a gift for my dear friend Amber. Amber and I have been friends since we were both 7th grade science teachers at the same middle school, way back in 2000! We have “graduated” to teaching high school, but we’re at different schools now. I don’t see Amber nearly as often as I’d like, and I wanted to make her a little gift because. . . Well, just because! Amber’s favorite color is green, and she’s a tennis coach, so I chose a pretty green print and added some colorful appliqued stars to Amber’s wine tote. (Amber, you’re a superstar in my book!)

The second tote is for my nephew’s fiance’, Kristen. Kristen recently completed her training to become a licensed radiology technician, and I wanted to give her a gift to celebrate her success! Kristen loves cats and enjoys wine, so this gift combines the two! The applique on Kristen’s wine tote is called “Sophisticated Kitty“, and I used Kristen’s favorite sophisticated color palette (black, white, gold, and silver) to create her gift. Of course, any gift for Kristen absolutely must include some bling, so I sparkled up the kitty with a collar and sunglasses made with brilliant Swarovski crystals. We’re all very proud of Kristen, and wish her a successful career. (She’s already landed her first radiology tech job; she’s just that good. Yay Kristen!!!)
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope that you enjoyed seeing the fun little gifts that I’ve been making, from the heart. Please leave a comment- it will make my day even better!
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Fun gift idea – could be used for olive oil too, or other bottled items! Wine would be fine for me though!

These totes are wonderful. I keep a few on hand for when I bring wine to someone’s house. Unfortunately these days, no one is going out much. You are so kind to give those to special friends and family members…just because.

I didn’t know that this kind of thing existed but it’s definitely something I’ll add to my next gifts, I just love it!,whenever I bring wine to share I used to use a plastic bag, but with this it’s also a good choice for myself….
