Happy Independence Day

Hi Quilting Friends,

Happy Independence Day to our USA readers! Are you ready to celebrate with us?

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later, July 4, 1776, all of the delegates from all 13 colonies adopted and signed the Declaration of Independence.  Brave men (and women) worked, fought, and sacrificed for our freedom which we in the U.S. honor each year on July 4th.

Although our independence from Great Britain was celebrated each July 4th, it was not declared a federal holiday until 1870.  In 1941 Independence Day became a paid federal holiday throughout the U.S.

We celebrate with parades, barbecues, family gatherings and, of course, fireworks!  It is a wonderful time in the summer to celebrate those who fought and won our independence.

Regardless of how or when you celebrate Independence Day, wouldn’t this set of cute coasters make a festive table setting? These little appliques don’t have a lot of pieces, so they go together quickly.
