Hi Quilting Friends,
Orange you glad that you stopped by today, during the “Orange You Glad!” blog hop? We’d like to send a great big “Thank You!” to our quilting friend Carla from “Creatin’ in the Sticks” for hosting today’s festivities. We hope that you’ll be inspired!
Orange is a color that most of us either love or hate. Frank Sinatra once said, “Orange is the happiest color”, so we know how Frank felt about orange. We agree that orange really grabs one’s attention.
We use orange sparingly in our quilts, because a little bit of orange packs a big punch. Orange brings sparkle to our Halloween quilts each year, and we’ve included it in a few of our other designs as well.
Today’s project is a set of adorable coasters that Susan designed and stitched up. These cute appliqued kitties have met a new friend (or maybe a nemesis, we’re just not sure). In any case, the cats are keeping an eye on things to see what develops.
These curious kitties are created with easy raw-edge applique, and the creepy spiders are actually printed on the background fabric that Susan chose. You could add an embroidered spider (or several) to each kitty coaster if you’re not able to find suitable printed fabric. Susan used plenty of orange fabric when she stitched them up. Sew cute!!! 👀
UPDATE: Congratulations to Joan K, winner of the “Halloween Kitty” coaster pattern! We hope that you’ll enjoy the pattern.

Those coasters are adorable, and placement of the background fabric spiders makes them all the more interesting. Thank you for the chance to win.
I like orange. It isn’t my go-to colour but I use it a fair amount. My favourite colour is copper and my SUV is a bright copper, so I guess orange IS a go-to. 🙂

Also love the color orange. Some years have better orange selection then others but that is the case with most colors don’t you think?

I wouldn’t have noticed that those spiders were part of the background if you hadn’t mentioned it. What a great idea. These little guys are just adorable. I think of Orange as a Halloween color and I love Halloween. I don’t actually hate it the rest of the year but I do need a reason outside of Halloween to use it. I do have a niece who loves it and several years back asked for an Orange Queen size quilt. It was one of the hardest quilts for me to ever make because it wasn’t one of my go to colors.

Very cute kitty coasters. I love the color orange but don’t often use it in quilts except in the fall for seasonal designs like pumpkins and leaves.

I think that most quilts benefit from a bit of gold but I reserve my use of orange for fall quilts and love when it is partnered with blue. I would never wear orange but I like to use it in quilts. It adds a little sparkle. Thanks for sharing the idea for the cute black cats/kittens.
