Here Be Dragonflies!

We are SO excited to introduce you to our new design for Spring, featuring dragonflies. Let’s begin with some information about these fascinating creatures.

Last summer, during our trip to Montana, Susan came across some gorgeous batik fabric in one of the quilt shops that we visited. The print features dragonflies in flight, with beautiful jewel-toned colors on a deep navy ground. Of course, she was unable to resist buying some yardage of the dragonfly print as well as a few coordinating solid batiks.

When we returned to Houston, Susan started dreaming up a design that would do justice to the lovely feature fabric. She pulled in several fabrics from our collection of Northcott Toscana blenders, and created an amazing yet simple dragonfly applique design to pull it all together. Et voila! Dragonfly place mats!

Each place mat features an applique dragonfly surrounded by a pieced border. Susan added black embroidery around the dragonfly pieces to make them look like stained glass.

The place mat pattern is available to purchase in Ms. P’s Pattern Shop, if you’d like to create your own set of beautiful dragonflies.
