Hi Quilting Friends,
The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for October is dark or light neutrals. Since I’ve used black and white neutrals throughout the project, I’m sharing my progress on the coffee mugs quilt, “Caffeine Addict”.
Coffee Mug Quilt, a.k.a. “Caffeine Addict” Sneaky Peek
I started making coffee mug blocks for this quilt in January, 2025, and continued making one mug each month, through September this year, for a total of 20 mugs in a rainbow of colors. I used the same white print background and black vine print heart applique for all of the blocks.

It took a while to decide how I wanted to finish this quilt, and I drew a lot of sketches on graph paper before making a final choice. I opted to use the white and black prints from the mug blocks to put the quilt’s elements together, since I had sufficient amounts of both fabrics.
My center block includes a quote about coffee, “Coffee is a hug in a mug.”

The heart blocks and the coffee mug blocks became borders that surround the center block, with the black vine print framing each section. Sew cute!

I hand embroidered a swirl of “steam” above each mug after the quilt top was completed. So stinkin’ adorable! Here’s a picture of one mug, complete with the “steam” swirl-

The quilt top is pieced and ready for quilting, but I’m not going to show a picture of the entire quilt top until it’s finished. By then I should also have the quilt pattern ready to release. My “One Monthly Goal” for November will be to finish quilting “Caffeine Addict”. Ready? Set. SEW!
In other news, Mr. FixIt recently purchased a new lawn mower since the old mower decided that it was not going to work again. Someone decided that an empty mower box makes a great guard cat house. Katniss has shelter from the elements while providing excellent home security on the front porch.

Thanks for stopping by today. I always enjoy reading your comments. Please visit the links that follow for more inspiration.
Happy quilting,
Sharon
Love what you’re doing with these blocks, Sharon! I can’t wait to see it completed. The embroidered swirl adds sew much!! How fun!
