Hi Quilting Friends,
My goal for August was to finish one of these three quilt tops that I made with my Christmas scraps during July. I actually have finished TWO of them, so I was an August overachiever. Here’s the “Before” photo of the three quilt tops:

I decided to quilt “in the ditch” along the horizontal zig-zag lines between the (mostly) red and (mostly) green blocks in order to make the quilts soft and cozy for snuggling. I used clear thread for the quilting and then I added bindings to coordinate with the border on each quilt. (I still need to add the labels on the back side of both quilts, but my permanent pen has dried out and I haven’t replaced it yet. I have about four months to get that done!)
The finishes were quick and easy, and that’s how I was able to complete both quilts this month! Here are the “After” photos of the finished quilts:
Yay! I have two beautiful handmade Christmas gifts that are completed before Christmas Eve. This pair of pretty scrappy Christmas quilts will be gifts for my son Nathan and his girlfriend Gabi, just the thing for snuggling on the sofa, with or without their dogs (Naomi and Ruth). I can’t wait to see them open their quilts!
Happy quilting,
Sharon

Fabulous, Sharon!! I love the way that simpler piecing designs really showcase the beautiful Christmas fabrics and let them shine. Good for you!

I love them and that stitching in the ditch has left them warm and snuggly. What fantastic Christmas gifts, all ready so well in advance. Kathryn Quilts
