Hi Quilting Friends,
Welcome to the “See Ya Later, Alligator” blog hop, hosted by our friend Carla at Creatin’ in the Sticks. (Thanks Carla!) The challenge for this hop was to create a project about travel- places to go, ways to get there, and (just maybe) an alligator!
We’ve had the perfect project for this hop in the works for quite a while, and we’re so delighted to present “Swamp Thang!”

Here’s music to put you into the mood for a tour of the Southern US swamp lands-
Meet Beau, the friendliest gator in the swamp! Beau loves to hang out with the other wild swamp critters, sharing gossip, cracking jokes, and telling tall tales as they gather at the edge of the swamp each morning after breakfast.

Beau spends many a lazy afternoon in his fishin’ boat, drownin’ worms. He doesn’t actually catch many fish, but the gentle swamp breeze and the sound of water lapping on the hull of the boat is very soothing.

When a bit of excitement is in order, Beau fuels up the air boat and tears around the bayou’s backwaters! There’s nothing quite as invigorating as the rush of air across your face, blowing through your hair (if only alligators had hair!) as the air boat zooms over the wetlands.

Whew! All of that visitin’, fishin’, and ridin’ around has made Beau feel a tad sleepy. (Yawn!) Time to lie back in the hammock and study the insides of his eyelids until Mamma calls him in for supper. (Don’t worry about the snake. “Red touch black, friend of Jack” helps us remember that she is non-venomous.)

“Swamp Thang” was lots of fun to make, and we hope that you’ve enjoyed meeting Beau and the rest of the “Swamp Thangs” crew! The quilt pattern is available right here, and you can find the individual block patterns in Ms P’s Pattern Shop!

- Finished Size – 41″ x 41″

Thanks for visitin’! We’d love to read your comments; it makes our day even better. Don’t forget to check out the rest of today’s participating bloggers. In a while, crocodile!
Happy quilting,

These little alligator characters are so adorable. Your little stories fit the look they have in their eyes so well.

Thank you! I always feel like these little critters are part of the family by the time I put in the last stitch, so I know their stories. ;o)

These blocks are just so stinkin cute! Love your little rhyme about the snake too, but I still think snakes are creepy! LOL!!! You really outdid yourselves on this sweet design.

I have to agree with you regarding the snakes. We have both coral snakes (venomous) and king snakes (non-venomous) in our area, so the rhyme helps with identification. Don’t want to mess with the coral snake by accident!

Such a cute quilt…but venomous or non, I do not like snakes!!

I agree regarding snakes, although I have (on occasion) touched a corn snake. My younger son kept one as a pet for a few years. I prefer pets with fur, for sure.

Beau is unusual for a gator; most of them just like to lie around in the sunshine.
