Hi Quilting Friends,
2022 is nearly in the books, and we’ll soon be moving on to 2023!
Today I’m looking back on the quilting & sewing projects that I finished during the past year. Whew! It has been a productive year for me, and I’ve enjoyed making projects to earn my PHD.
PHD in 2022 Project List
Project #1: Purple Orphan Block Project Bag

Pretty purple pouch is perfect for protecting a project!

Project #2: “A Time to Play” Wall Hanging

Look how beautiful it is, hanging on my fence! It looks even better now, hanging on the wall in my studio. 😊

Project #3: “Swamp Thang” Nursery Quilt

See ya later, alligator! This quilt is finished, and loads of fun. You can find the quilt and block patterns in Ms P’s Pattern Shop!

Project #4 & #5: Gray/Black & Tan/Brown Scrappy Baskets

Done, and done!

I love my scrappy box collection! Here they are, hanging out on the shelves in my (new) sewing studio!

Project #6: Star Party Sampler Quilt

Not finished (yet), but ready for quilting! This will move to my 2023 list.

We’d LOVE to have you join us for our 2023 “Star Party” sampler sew along! Click the image below for more information.
Project #7: RSC 2021 String Block Quilt

Finished, and fabulous! I’m keeping this quilt. It makes me smile.

Project #8: Diamond Star Quilt

Pieced, and ready for quilting! It will move to my 2023 list too.

Project #9: Scrappy Christmas Quilt

It’s a wrap! No, actually, it’s a quilt. I gave it to my friend Sharon , who lives across the street, to keep her warm and cozy while she reads.

Project #10: “Jewel of the Prairie” Quilt

I started this quilt after seeing the pattern in the July/August issue of “Love of Quilting” in 2005. All done, and in use on our guest bed. Sew pretty!

Project #11: Aqua Sawtooth Star Project Bag

Awesome aqua project bag is awaiting adventures! My “One Monthly Goal” for December was to finish up this bag. “Princess Nina” was a big help.

Project #12: Sticks and Stones Scrappy Quilt

All done! I’ve used up most of my 1.5″ wide scraps to create this colorful and cozy quilt. It was a gift for my younger son and his girlfriend fiance. (Squee! I’m SO excited! They got engaged just before Christmas. ❤)

Project #13: Wedge Ruler Project

I had fun “playing with toys” and “using my scraps” while I created this project. I still have a large bin of solid scraps, and I haven’t decided where (or how!) to use this quilt, but it’s all done.

Project #14: Crayon Box Scrappy Quilt

Finished, and fantastic! This quilt was a gift for Kristen, my nephew’s fiance.

Project #15: Coffee, Tea, or Me Part 3

All done, and sew cute for my breakfast table! You can find patterns for the foundation pieced coffee mugs in Ms P’s Pattern Shop.

New Projects
As promised, I finished the “Celebrations” table runner this month and shared it on Day 12 of our “12 Days of Christmas” series. Here’s the photo finish-
And I made a nice little assortment of snap bags to give to all of the “girls” in my Houston & San Antonio family, for Christmas-

I also stitched up a pair of flannel pajama pants for my Mr. Fix-It, to keep him warm and cozy-

Since this is a 2022 recap post, here are the other projects that I’ve made this year-
Ongoing Projects
Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2022
Here’s the tracking sheet that I’ve used to document my progress this year-

Sawtooth Star
I have been making this block for #RSC2021 and #RSC2022, and now I have enough blocks to make a quilt. I finished putting the quilt top together during December, but haven’t had the time to quilt it. Here’s the most recent photo-

I love it! Finishing this project is on my PHD list for 2023.
Carolina Chain

I have 251 of the 310 blocks that are needed for the quilt I have in mind, so I will keep this collection on my “Ongoing Projects” list for #RSC2023.
Progress Tracking
Here’s my updated task list, with colored cells for tasks that have been completed:

I like that I’ve been able to shade nearly all of the cells on my spreadsheet this year!
Here’s my UFO list for PHD in 2022:

With 13 completed projects from the UFO list and no new starts that aren’t finished, except for an ongoing #RSC block collection, I think that I have completed my PhD in 2022! I shall await my diploma. . .
And now to begin working on my list for 2023. . .
Happy quilting,
Sharon
