Hi Quilting Friends,
I hope that you’ve had a wonderful, relaxing holiday season! I can’t believe that we’ll begin a new year tomorrow.
PHD in 2023 Project Recap + December Update
I didn’t make any progress on my PHD list during December, but that’s because nearly everything was completed by end of November. Here’s a recap of my projects for 2023-

New Projects (December only!)
This fun table topper was stitched in November, and we released the pattern earlier this month. I shared it on “Day 9” during our “12 Days of Christmas” series.

I stitched two Christmas stockings for “the girls”, Freya and Astrid, and posted about them on Day 11 of our “12 Days” series.

I sewed two pair of flannel pajama pants for Mr. Fix-It, completing my “One Monthly Goal” for December. (Even though I forgot to link up at the start of December. Oops!)

I’ve also made some jammies for our “girls” out of a yard of flannel that I had in my stash. It gets a little bit drafty in their kennels at night, and I want them to feel cozy. I drafted the pajama pattern from instructions HERE.

Ongoing Projects
I participated in the “Rainbow Scrap Challenge” again this year. Here’s my #RSC2023 tracking sheet, where I keep a tally of the blocks as I stitch them each month-

Carolina Chains
I’ve started to put the blocks together, along with the setting triangles. This project will move to my list for PHD in 2024. Work in progress-

Rolling Stones
I made a total of 10 Rolling Stone blocks for #RSC2023. That’s not enough for a quilt yet, so this block will stay on my “Ongoing Projects” list for next year.

Progress Update
I’ve finished a total of 13 projects from my original list. Whew!

And here’s my updated PHD tally sheet. As you can see, all of my 2023 starts have been finished as well. I’m celebrating my PHD in 2023!

That was fun! Now to spend some time finalizing my project list for 2024. . .
Speaking of which, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be taking up the reins for hosting PHD in 2024! I hope that I can live up to the precedent set by Gail, our “PHD” host since 2018. I’ll be back soon with my list for 2024, and I hope that you’ll join me!

Happy quilting,
Sharon
Congratulations on completing your PHD in ’23!!! Well done!!! I’m excited for you taking the reins for PHD in ’24! Happy New Year!

Look at you go, Sharon!! You made the banker’s dozen!! I didn’t make it, but honestly I’ve lost interest in a few of those that didn’t make the cut. So, not sure I’ll have 12 for this year. I will donate some of it to our guild as this is our year for the quilt show…and I need to destash! LOL Happy New Year!

Thanks Brenda! I did a UFO purge when I set up my studio, and it was nice to let go of projects that no longer interested me. Happy new year!

I have been pretty successful at keeping my UFOs at bay, but can still use a boost. Last year I didn’t have enough to participate in the PHD challenge, but this year I think I can. I plan to join and will be watching for your post about it.
Thank you for keeping it going.
Your finishes are beautiful!
