Hi Quilting Friends,
April has been a very busy month, with a road trip to see the solar eclipse, and then Mr. Fix-It’s brother and sister-in-law visiting from Montana for the following weekend. We attended a baby shower earlier today, but I’ve managed to squeeze in one more YELLOW project in between all of the other fun. Here we go!
Place Mat

The place mat began its life as an orphan block, left over from this baby quilt that I made several years ago. (The image colors don’t match, but I don’t know how to fix it. It is actually closer to the colors on the quilt image.) SEW adorable!

I cut the orphan block apart, sewed it back together again, and then added borders on each side to change it from a square into a rectangle. It is more pink than YELLOW, but I don’t care. I stitched a FMQ “Circuitboard” design with YELLOW thread, and added a YELLOW binding from my scrap bin. (Practice and more practice is helping me to improve my FMQ skills. “Circuitboard” is my current obsession.)
I hope that the rest of April is great for you! I’m counting down the days until the end of May (when school is out, and I retire after 25 years of teaching secondary sciences).
Happy quilting,
Sharon
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. After 38 years teaching (HS English & computer science) I finally retired in 2022. Lots more sewing time now, but I do miss the people.

Thanks Sara! I think that’s how it will be for me; I really enjoy the students, and I’ll miss them when school starts in August. 😊 Ms P Designs USA

That first August without a new school year was so strange. Felt quite empty. Sara

Thanks! I keep finding useful things in my scrap stash, so it’s a fun challenge to decide how to use them. 😊 Ms P Designs USA
