Hi Quilting Friends,
We’re here today to celebrate our first “new” quilt design for 2026, “Spiral Galaxy”. We hope that you’ll enjoy seeing how it all came together.

Sharon here. I started making blocks for this project back in January, 2025, while participating in the “Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2025”. (You can read more about RSC HERE.) I stitched up two blocks every month, using my scraps in the designated color of the month. By the end of 2025 I had a nice collection of 20 blocks, and a plan for my quilt.
I decided to continue with the “scrappy” theme of the stars, and used more scraps to create sashing between the blocks. I chose to place the colors randomly, as advised by my resident graphic designer/ son. The cornerstones are little pinwheels, made in the same black and white print fabrics that I used to make the blocks.

I quilted a continuous spiral design over the entire quilt top, which adds a delightful texture to the quilt.

The “Spiral Galaxy” PDF pattern is available for purchase. I’ve included information about how to make the quilt with identical blocks, just in case “scrappy” isn’t your vibe.
