Hi Quilting Friends,
I recently found the #2026QuiltingCheckIn goal-setting link, hosted by Melanie, so I decided to join in the fun. I’m too late for Q1 or Q2 goals, but I can set and share goals for Q3 and Q4. Here we go!
Goal 1: Play with UFO’s
Believe it or not, I emptied my drawer of unfinished quilt tops this year when I wrapped up the quilting and binding for my “Stash-Busting Scrappy Sampler“! (Yay me!).

However, I have other types of projects that are still incomplete and I’m classifying them as UFO’s too.

My goal for Q3 and Q4 is to wrap up this counted cross stitch project, unfinished after around 25 years. I’ve been stitching on it since January, and I would like to have it ready to frame by end of 2026.
Goal 2: Play with Scraps
You should see my scrap collection! I have been using scraps for most of my quilting projects since 2020, and I could probably continue doing so without running out of scraps for another 10 years.

My goal for Q3 and Q4 is to keep using my scraps and posting my finishes, completing a minimum of 8 scrappy projects by the end of 2026, with at least one of them a throw-sized or larger quilt.
Goal 3: Play with Friends, Online + IRL
Part of this goal is to participate regularly with the online quilting community. Here are several of the activities that I will continue for Q3 and Q4-
- Favorite Quilt Finish
- Finished (or not) Friday
- Monday Musings
- Oh Scrap!
- One Monthly Goal
- PHD in 2026 (I am the host.)
- Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2026
The other part of this goal is to interact with friends and family, in real life (IRL), and do something fun besides reading or quilting at least twice a week. (Bonus points for new learning or experiences.) I’ll keep track of my activites on a calendar.
Goal 4: Play Outside
I’m a dog owner, so I routinely go on a walk with the dogs twice a day. That’s not what this goal is about, but don’t worry. The girls will always have their walkies!

My goal is to move my body vigorously and make my heart work harder at least twice a week by biking, hiking, going to the gym, or swimming.
I’m full of excuses about why I don’t do this, but I also know that it is important to stay fit. I’m hoping that this goal will help me to develop the habit of undertaking more rigorous exercise, more often. I’ll track my workouts on the calendar.
Four goals should be enough to keep me out of trouble for the next three months, LOL. I’ll report back at the end of September and share my progress. I look forward to reading about your goals as well.
Thank you for visiting, and thanks to Melanie for hosting!
Happy quilting,
Sharon
